Setting Up Your Camera System

See what your robot sees, from a safe distance.

Once you know your robot, the next step is seeing what it sees. In Part 2 of our Quick Start series, Preston walks through the bin camera system: what’s in the box, how to mount it, and how to get your video feed live so you can operate and monitor the robot from the ground, your truck cab, or anywhere else outside the bin and away from the elements.

What’s in the system:

• A radio unit
• A camera unit

Two ways to mount it:

• On the bin roof: attach with the top magnet, then tilt the cameras to dial in your view of the work area.
• On the robot: fold the cameras straight up and down, remove the magnet, and mount directly on top of the robot using the two included straps for a first-person view, as if you were riding along. This setup uses a power adapter that plugs into the robot’s LED light port.

Getting your video feed live:

1. Power on the radio unit (confirm antennas and batteries are installed first): short press, then long press. Screen and LED lighting up means it’s powered on and initializing.
2. Plug in the camera unit. On the bin, you’ll use the included power supply into a standard outlet. A green LED means it’s powered up.
3. Wait for a blue LED on the radio unit, that’s your signal the two units are communicating.
4. Connect your tablet or device (not included) to the radio unit’s Wi-Fi network, then open the companion app to bring your feed online.
5. Once live, you’ll get both a front and rear camera view. Tap the smaller inset screen to toggle between them, or drag to resize.
